Concert at the renowned Tonhalle Zurich with Klassifest – "Side by Side" Project
The project is supported by SwissMusiKids, CoroVivo and Empyrean Academy – an initiative of Kevin Griffiths in which he nurtures young musical talent in ensemble playing and conducting. Together with the orchestra, the participating children and young people perform the first movement of Mozart's “Eine kleine Nachtmusik”, A. Vivaldi's “Gloria” and W. A. Mozart's “Ave verum”.
We perform Tchaikovsky's “Souvenir de Florence”, named after the city where Tchaikovsky sketched one of the work's main themes during his visit. We open the evening with Edvard Grieg's “Holberg Suite” and close the first half with Mozart's Fifth Violin Concerto, often called the “Turkish”. The solo part is taken by the 18-year-old Swiss-Latvian violinist Ilva Eigus.
This marks the first major Side-by-Side project, giving children and young people the chance to perform alongside professionals in this outstanding concert hall.
